As an educator, I am passionate, invested and attentive. I always monitor my students' comprehension of the material being taught and adjust my teaching methods accordingly. This adaptability proved vital during my two-year contract as an instructor at an international school in Bratislava, where I taught high school Mathematics to non-native English speakers with various academic backgrounds. Similarly, while conducting tutorials on multivariate calculus for engineering students, I found myself relying more on examples than on proof-oriented exercises, weaving the explanation of the background theory directly into the examples I was working out on the blackboard. All in all, my years of experience as an instructor abroad and as a teaching assistant during my PhD studies have allowed me to hone my skills as an educator. I am confident in my ability to help students of all backgrounds reach their goals in mathematics.
I am happy to tailor my teaching methods to the needs and learning styles of my students and I make it my mission to foster a supportive learning environment. I always begin by establishing how much my student already knows about the topic(s) to be covered and build onto that foundation in easy to follow steps. Later on, we work out solutions to some practice problems together in the spirit of guided problem-solving. Towards the end, I usually compile the most important bits of the written portion of my lesson into a PDF file that I let my student keep for future references. I offer lessons in high school math (algebra, trigonometry, pre-calculus), Calculus (differential, integral, multivariate, advanced), Linear Algebra, Probability and ODEs. I also have experience teaching the Pearson A-level curriculum, as well as a background in Actuarial Science (exams P and FM).
